Why it matters:
Arrests like these show the importance of prevention education — predators often reach kids through gaming apps, chat rooms, and social media.

What Parents Need to Know

The Heat Initiative published a new study which reveals Instagram Teen Account Still Expose Kids to Online Risks.  The goal of the Heat Initiative is to hold Big Tech Companies accountable for harmful content. Read the report here.

Why it matters:
The findings give parents real-world insight into what young teens are actually seeing online, helping families take action to protect them

Douglas County's Frontline in Online Child Protection

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office plays a critical role in the mission to protect kids through its Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) and Special Victims Unit (SVU). These specialized teams investigate online exploitation and child trafficking, working with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and state and federal partners to track down offenders and protect potential victims.

Their work is a reminder that child trafficking and online exploitation are real — and happening closer to home than many realize. The Sheriff’s Office also provides education and resources to help families recognize online risks and protect their children.

Why it matters:
DCSO aligns closely with Colorado Faith Alliance’s mission to prevent trafficking before it starts — by educating families, equipping communities, and ensuring predators are held accountable.
